Lac-Mégantic: The Day Greed Came to Town

When pure greed explodes
In your town you will feel its
Heat—briefly—and then
You ever loved will be gone

An algorithm—
Somewhere—adjusts stock prices
Inch ever so slightly down
Restoring market balance

And what a relief
That will be—knowing it all
Works out in the end
Soft rains will fall on ashen
Streets and swell oil-slicked rivers
