September dawning

Chilhuly at the MMFA 2013

September dawning
The soft leaves are whispering
Worried by a breeze—
Rumours chill—premonitions
Of inevitable change

In the still dark sky the pale stars
Shine silently anonymous—
Possibly dead—should we bother
To name those who’ve already gone?
